This scarcity of visibility frequently makes the field &#8220;inaccessible,&#8221; as expressed by a student who noted the dominance of &#8220;white individuals instructing on topics about white individuals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Social integration challenges further worsen these issues, with students reporting exclusion from events that clash with their cultural and religious beliefs, such as those centered around alcohol. This feeling of isolation was intensified by familial expectations, such as residing at home due to cultural norms, which hindered their capacity to participate in time-demanding university activities.<\/p>\n<p>**Recommendations for Inclusivity and Support**<\/p>\n<p>The research presents practical solutions to alleviate these difficulties. By creating culturally-specific societies, modifying schedules to suit commuting students, and improving reporting mechanisms for racism, university chemistry departments can foster a more inclusive environment. Moreover, establishing multi-faith quiet spaces within departments would provide necessary accommodations for religious practices without compromising academic responsibilities in lab settings.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Tippu Sheriff of Queen Mary University, reflecting on similar issues experienced during his academic career in the 1980s, supports these suggestions to cultivate a sense of belonging.
