Greetings once more to the monthly newsletter of STEM from Scratch! It has been some time since our last interaction. In case you missed it, STEM from Scratch is a non-profit organization that has recently made a comeback. The reins have been handed over to enthusiastic high school students in Ontario who are dedicated to STEM and aim to connect with others through monthly newsletters focused on STEM-related subjects and intriguing scientific and mathematical themes.
What can you anticipate from STEM from Scratch?
STEM is an ever-evolving and swiftly advancing domain, and our team’s primary objective is to enhance accessibility for entry and participation for all within this organization. Our strategy involves raising awareness about opportunities, workshops, and activities that delve into various facets of STEM for students. In doing so, we aspire to assist students in discovering hands-on experiences in their areas of interest and nurturing their enthusiasm for science and technology through engaging activities. Additionally, we intend to offer resources pertaining to the diverse sectors of STEM to broaden our readers’ understanding while aiding them in identifying which specific STEM subjects resonate most with them.
So, what will this entail specifically?
Excellent question! We have a plethora of initiatives lined up for you. One project we plan to initiate involves organizing events, such as coding and/or mathematics workshops, mainly aimed at younger students in elementary schools and within our team’s local vicinity. We are currently on the lookout for exciting opportunities like hackathons in computer science, math competitions, and interactive workshops focusing on topics such as health sciences. Furthermore, we will ensure that these events are accessible not just in our team’s current area, but also wherever our readers may be! We believe these experiences will serve as a fantastic means to engage in STEM and follow your passions.
