Returning to Known Territories: A Heartfelt Reception

Returning to Known Territories: A Heartfelt Reception

Welcome back to the monthly newsletter of STEM from Scratch! It has been some time since our last interaction. If you haven’t been informed, STEM from Scratch is a non-profit organization that has recently undergone a relaunch. The new leadership has been assigned to high school students in Ontario who are enthusiastic about STEM and intend to reach out to others with monthly newsletters covering STEM-related subjects and fascinating scientific and mathematical topics.

What can you anticipate from STEM from Scratch?

STEM is a swiftly evolving and constantly changing domain, and our team’s primary objective is to enhance entry and engagement for everyone through this organization. Our strategy is to raise awareness of opportunities, workshops, and activities that delve into various facets of STEM for students. In doing so, we aspire to assist students in discovering hands-on experiences in their chosen field and nurturing their passion for science and technology through captivating activities. We also aim to offer resources across the numerous sectors of STEM to broaden our readers’ understanding while supporting them in identifying which specific STEM areas resonate with them the most.

So, what will this concretely entail?

Excellent question! We have numerous initiatives planned for you. One initiative we plan to launch will involve hosting events, such as coding and/or math workshops primarily aimed at younger students in elementary school and within our team’s local community. Hackathons for computer science, math competitions, and interactive workshops centered on topics like health sciences are fantastic opportunities we are currently exploring. We will ensure that these are not limited to our team’s present location, but are accessible wherever our readers are located! We believe these experiences will provide a fantastic way to engage with STEM and pursue your interests.
