As someone aspiring to enter the healthcare field, I’ve had the chance to contemplate how the pandemic has altered our perceptions of mental health and highlighted the importance of gratitude, self-reflection, and resilience during these trying times. My experiences throughout this period have provided me with invaluable perspectives on personal development and societal interconnectedness.

### Quarantine: A New Norm for Many

Prior to COVID-19, terms like “quarantine” and “social distancing” might have seemed remote or theoretical to most. However, for those with compromised immune systems, such as individuals fighting cancer or living with chronic conditions, these protocols have long been a part of everyday reality, serving to protect their vulnerable health. The pandemic afforded the broader population a glimpse into the realities of living under constant threat of contagion. The realization that public health often necessitates profound personal sacrifice has resonated deeply with billions, mirroring the experiences of those who have silently navigated these hardships for years.

### A Societal Transformation

From the inception of COVID-19, societal norms, travel patterns, and daily routines underwent significant changes.
