Welcome back to the monthly newsletter of STEM from Scratch! It has been some time since our last meeting. If you haven’t been informed, STEM from Scratch is a non-profit organization that has recently been revitalized. The new leadership is now in the hands of high school students in Ontario who are enthusiastic about STEM and intend to connect with others through monthly newsletters about STEM-related subjects and fascinating scientific and mathematical themes.
**What can you anticipate from STEM from Scratch?**
STEM is a swiftly evolving and dynamic field, and our team’s primary objective is to make entry and participation easier for everyone through this organization. Our strategy is to raise awareness of opportunities, workshops, and events that delve into various aspects of STEM for students. Through this initiative, we aim to assist students in discovering hands-on experiences in their chosen fields and nurture their enthusiasm for science and technology through engaging activities. Additionally, we plan to offer resources across the diverse sectors of STEM to broaden our readers’ understanding while also assisting them in identifying which specific STEM subjects resonate most with them.
**So, what will this look like in detail?**
Excellent question! We have numerous things lined up for you. One initiative we intend to launch involves hosting events, such as coding and/or math workshops mainly aimed at younger students in elementary school and within our team’s local vicinity. Hackathons for computer science, math competitions, and interactive workshops on topics including health sciences are fantastic opportunities that we are currently watching. We will ensure that these activities are not limited to our team’s existing location but are available wherever our readers may be! We believe these experiences will serve as an excellent way to engage with STEM and pursue your interests.
